I am just about to finish my second year of Fashion Branding and Communication at Leeds Arts University and I would have never imagined how much I would change in only two years…
Aaah…Identity…What a complicated subject… I am 21 years of age and I am still trying to figure out who I am. Before I entered this course, I had already done a foundation year in England when I was only 17. I had such a culture shock that I took a year off and worked both in Aix and London after that. These past years have been exactly what I needed to grow up. You probably already know that I come from a place where looks are very important. If you are not wearing designer or dressing classy enough, people will judge you. So I never really dared experience with clothes until I came to England. My course has really made me work on who I am and who I want to be. I have made new friends and cancelled the people I didn’t want in my life anymore. I have become simpler and less obsessed with luxury. I’ve let my hair grow so that I can test out some hairstyles, I like to wear baggy clothes and have found an obsession for t-shirts and accessories. I also dare more. I like to mix street with sophisticated. For example, I’ll wear a sparkly skirt with an adidas t-shirt and trainers. I feel closer to who I would like to be, but I still think I need to test my style more. I will probably regret the way I dress in the future anyway, so who cares?
