Don’t get me wrong, I still go on public beaches like a normal 21 year old student. But, saying that I don’t enjoy a little bit of luxury beach life once in a while would be a big fat lie. Who would say ‘no’ to a nice glass of wine on a sun-bed by the sea? Someone, maybe…But definitely NOT YOU (*pointing finger) because you are reading this blog post. So here’s my top 3 around Marseille.
1. LE BISTROT PLAGE
The icon of private beaches in Marseille! Hidden under the JFK Corniche in the center of the city, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the sea from your sun lounger. Bistrot plage is not like actually placed on a beach, it is perched on the rocks and it is quirky in the way it is all set up. You have access to different levels of terraces, which give you the choice of either being placed higher or closer to the water. It is the nb1 beach to go to if you are looking for nice cocktails and want to cross the paths of famous models, influencers or designers like Jacquemus. One more tip if you go, stay until sunset and have the apéro on the highest terrace. You will be amazed by the colours reflecting not only on the water but also on the city. Thank me later.

2. LA SIESTA
Everytime I go to La Siesta in Les Lecques I feel like I’m at home. That is probably because I come all the time, know the staff and the menu by heart (*feeling a bit ashamed). No but really, I love this beach because the water is crystal clear, it’s very relaxing and easy, they have a great selection of salads and paninis and the staff is also very handsome. What more can you want?!
3. KIMA
Last year was the first time I tested Kima in Sanary-sur-Mer and it is definitely going in my top 3 for private beaches around Marseille. I was already amazed by the colour of the water, but when I saw how cool the beach was, that did it for me. The bar and restaurant are on stilts and the set-up looks really chilled and exotic. I felt like I had arrived in a private surf camp somewhere like Hawai or Australia, with really tanned, surfer-looking staff. You can do paddle boarding, enjoy a nice poke bol and, ‘oh crap, I’ve forgotten my suncream’…No worries! There’s a full set available for you to use! It is truly the coolest beach in the area.
